To Swine or Not to Swine?

So...I have watched my child 2 times in the last hour deliberately dump is cup of water on the table and lap it up like a dehydrated dog. He is currently pecking at me like a hen begging for more water. No, thank you...i'm done cleaning floors and tables because he feels the need to have a mini bath.

Currently on my mind: The swine flu vaccination. I am concerned about it, as I am with most anything that is "new" and going into my children. I was watching NBC news and they were talking about how rapidly the swine flu has already spread. My daughter's school has seen 3 cases of it already. Luckily no one in her class. Kids are so germy especially at her age. People are coughing and sneezing with extra "goodies" coming out to their noses, all the while sharing a snack at snack time or touching a toy that another kid will grab. It got me to thinking...I may just get the swine flu vaccination. I am pretty worried about it. I love my children to pieces, and it would tear me apart if thhey were a casualty of the swine flu and I had refused to get them vaccinated. At the same time, what if i get them vaccinated and in 5 years they and millions of others who got vaccinated suffer serious problems. Basically: you are damned if you do, and damed if you don't. Pick your poison, i guess.

  1. I'm not very educated about this vaccine, but I heard one woman talking about it last weekend who said it was a live vaccine, and that they aren't testing it much before they put it out there. I would just say that you may want to read up on it. I'm not saying you shouldn't get it...just read up on it. I will be doing the same thing. :)

  2. I agree, I so torn on this, I don't like giving my kids new vaccines. But if I don't and something happens I would feel horrible. I just don't know...

  4. I took my two babies (3 and 11 months) to the pediatrician today because my oldest was running a 102.3 fever and coughing.. Of course the swine is going around so I wanted to be safe and have them checked.. I was advised that the swine flu is nothing to fear in healthy strong kids.. The ones that are being affected seriously are people with other illnesses. I was also told that most doctors are not even testing for swine in healthy kids or administering the vaccine.. it is mostly being targeted towards individuals who suffer from a chronic illness already.. My baby boy is already showing signs of improvement. Is it swine or not. I don't know.. but at this point I don't think the vaccine is necessary. I would do more research..

  5. Hi there. I found you on Etsy!

I've been following the swine flu hype for a few years now and would not advise anyone to take it - especcially pregnant women and children.

It hasn't been tested sufficiently and has been known to cause brain damage. So much so that there are several law suits against Washing DC.

Rather dose up on Vitamin D3 (see my blog for info - lots there).

I'm following you now and if you like my blog, I'd appreciate a follow back!

    Take care.

  7. I have done so much research and am now more confused than ever. Such a hard decision.

  8. i have decided that while my family and i will get the regular flu vaccine, we will not get the swine flu vaccine. I am not 100% comfortable putting something that i feel has not been tested enough to know the negative effects into my children, husband, or myself

  9. I have been having the same worries, and everyone else I have talked doesn't seem to worry that the vaccine is BRAND NEW and we have no idea what the long term effects could be. I just don't feel comfortable with it, no new medication would EVER be put on the market after such short research, they usually do YEARS of study just for the long term effects they may have. So I am with you, my family is not getting the vaccine because I am not comfortable with that decision.

  10. I heard something about since the swine flu is a pandemic if something happens to you or your child from the vaccine you aren't allowed to sue. I personally will not be getting myself or my child vaccinated. There hasn't been enough testing and we are pretty healthy. Give your child some Clean Well hand sanitizer to take to school. It has no alcohol, so it's safe for kids.
